We have some exciting news to share with you! Villa del Monte Winery is proud to announce that all six of the wines we submitted to the LA Cellarmasters Amateur Winemaking Competition 2007 won awards! This is the 34th year that the Cellarmasters have had this competition, and they are a tough bunch. This is our first competition to enter, so we were very pleased with the results. Gold Medal winners: 2005 Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains 2003 Syrah, Ukiah Silver Medal winners: 2004 Cabernet, California 2005 Merlot, Carneros Bronze Medal winners: 2002 Pinot, Anderson Valley 2005 Pinot, Santa Cruz Mountains For more information on the awards, check out our awards page http://www. In other news, we have moved into our new winery location, less than a mile from our houses, where we have the room to make wine without being so constrained for space. Now that our winery location is settled, we have also restarted the process of getting bonded. We had hoped to be bonded for the 2007 harvest, but the uncertainties of the winery location kept us from being able to move forward with this--until now. We have been very busy this harvest, with the '07 Pinot and Chardonnay in the barrel now and the '07 Moon Merlot in settling tanks. Our newest baby, 2 tons of Santa Cruz Mountains Merlot, was pressed into settling tanks on November 11th.
