2006 Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay - Silver Medal Winner (at the 2009 San Joaquin County Fair) & Bronze Medal Winner (at the 2009 California State Fair)

This Chardonnay is a single-vineyard wine from Eddie Quenneville's vineyard.  The protected location gives the grapes a wonderful balance of flavors that are typical of the Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation.  Our Chardonnay is made the old-fashioned way, fermented in the barrel with lots of secondary fermentation, giving it a buttery/oakey taste that is not at all like your typical Chardonnay.

History

  • Harvested and whole-cluster pressed on October 27, 2006
  • Removed from gross lees and moved into 14 barrels for fermentation on November 12, 2006 for natural yeast fermentation.
  • Consolidated into 8 barrels after primary and secondary fermentation was complete.
